In short
- Add Cedar to Claude or ChatGPT as a custom connector, with the URL below.
- Sign in with the Google account you use in Cedar, and choose Allow.
- Ask: “What’s on today?”
The connector URL
Select it and copy it. It’s the same for Claude and ChatGPT.

In Claude
- In Claude, on the web or in the desktop app, open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector. Name it Cedar, paste the URL above and choose Add.
- Choose Connect. Cedar’s sign-in page opens. Continue with Google, check that it names Claude, and choose Allow.
- In a chat, make sure Cedar is turned on in the tools menu, then ask away.
In a Claude workspace for a team, an owner may need to add the connector first.
In ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps, choose Create to add a custom MCP server. Name it Cedar, paste the URL above, choose OAuth for authentication and confirm.
- Cedar’s sign-in page opens. Continue with Google, check that it names ChatGPT, and choose Allow.
- In a chat, pick Cedar from the + menu, then ask.
What it can do
The assistant works through these tools, and nothing else. It decides when to use them, from what you ask.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
get_today
|
Where today stands: habits due and their streaks, todos overdue and due, focus time so far and the nearest countdown. |
list_todos
|
Your todos: open, due today, upcoming or done, optionally with one tag. |
add_todo
|
Add a todo, with a due date and time, a reminder, tags or a repeat. |
complete_todo
|
Tick a todo off, or untick it. A repeating todo adds its next copy, as the app does. |
list_habits
|
Your habits: schedule, day plans, streaks, success rate and recent days. |
mark_habit
|
Mark a habit’s day done, relapsed or ignored, or clear it, with a note if you like. |
list_notes
|
Your notes, newest first, by search or section. Locked notes show their title only. |
add_note
|
Add a note. You can lock it on your device afterwards. |
list_countdowns
|
Countdowns still ahead, nearest first, with the days left. |
add_countdown
|
Start a countdown to a date and time. |
focus_summary
|
Finished focus sessions over recent days, by day and by todo. |
What it can’t do
- Read a locked note. Locked notes show their title only, never their text.
- See your countdown photos. They never leave your device.
- Delete anything. None of its tools delete.
- See anyone else’s data. It acts as you, and sees only your Cedar.
Remove its access
You can remove Cedar at any time: in Claude, from Settings → Connectors; in ChatGPT, from Settings → Apps. Deleting your Cedar account ends every connection too.
What the assistant reads from Cedar goes to the company that runs it, Anthropic or OpenAI, under its own privacy policy. Our privacy policy says more.
Trouble connecting?
Start again from Claude or ChatGPT: the sign-in page only works when they open it. If it keeps failing, email malik@ashternext.com.
